MorrisTech Meetup

The innovative and technology driven MorrisTech Meetup has been awarded the 2017 Non-Profit of the Year Award by the Morris County Economic Development Corporation.

Carini and Baskin founded The MorrisTech Meetup five years ago along with the help of Elizabeth Gearhart also from Chatham, Pavita Howe of Watchung and Mark Annett. Today the group has over 1700 members who are mainly entrepreneurs and technology professionals.  The intent of the group is to bring forward thinking leaders together who wish to share ideas, best practices, lessons learned and create a community which supports each other’s entrepreneurial endeavors. The meetings are held monthly and include heavy hitting well known speakers such as Scott Tannen, founder of Boll & Branch and Media mogul Gary Vaynerchuk.  They also held the county’s first Cryptoconomy and Blockchain Conference in December which hosted over 200 professionals and crypto-enthusiasts.

MorrisTech Meetup is also driving future innovative change in Morris County.  They are spearheading efforts such as ‘Start Up Move Up Morris‘ and ‘Making NJ the Next Silicon Alley’,  two initiatives designed to make Morris County a national Tech Hub.

The Award was presented at the Morris County Economic Development’s Annual Award’s luncheon on Friday, March 16th at the Wyndham/Hamilton Park Conference Center in Florham Park which included over 200 people.
