Chamber President Talks Morris County Growth & Impact on Life Sciences Industry
Morris County is gaining national attention as life sciences industries expand their presence and invest millions of dollars across the county.
Last month, Biotech firm Celularity announced a collaboration that could bring more than 200 new jobs and $300 million in investment to Florham Park, following Altimmune’s relocation to Morristown and Garonit Pharmaceutical’s investment in Mount Olive.
Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Meghan Hunscher said there’s a lot of innovation going on at almost every level of the county’s life sciences ecosystem. While it’s a legacy industry that’s been in Morris County for decades, players like Celularity – through its partnership with MuseCell – continue to innovate, collaborate and make an impact.
“With Celularity, the fact that they’re looking to grow and provide additional therapeutics through this partnership is really a testament to the way that the industry has evolved in the county over time,” Hunscher said.
Following the biotechnology company’s recent investment, Hunscher said Morris County is in a “golden age” for science and a “testament to innovation,” marking an “incredible time” for the industry.
Hunscher said many of the industries that have started businesses in the county have stayed, thus further attracting the talent needed to “impact the world and to benefit humanity on a global scale.”
